Luciano Bianciardi, author of the brilliant pamphlet Il lavoro culturale(1957), an extremely witty satire on the world he worked in. The book was published in "Universale Economica", which continued, even in its numeration, the Colip series and, owing to the first-edition novelties published, immediately attracted great attention.

The first volume of the series dedicated to history, one that was to continue for thirty years, was La Storia dell'Italia moderna, by Giorgio Candeloro. The eleventh and last volume was published in 1986 and the complete work was presented by the president of the Republic, Francesco Cossiga, the same year (left).
