another book destined to have lasting success: Eva luna. Gore Vidal's
novel Intrigo a Washington came out, too. The volume La forma della
scrittura. Tipologia e storia degli alfabeti dai Sumeri ai nostri giorni
by Salvatore Gregorietti and Emilia Vassale was also published. Martino
Gasparini took on the direction of the Graphics Department.

A new, young writer, Paola Capriolo (above), appeared with a collection of
short stories La grande Eulalia. Julia Kristeva's Sole nero. Depressione
e melanconia were published, as were L'attesa by Ginevra Bompiani; Racconti
by Friedrich Dürrenmatt; La finestra sull'East River by Muriel
Spark; Il finale della battaglia by Elisabetta Rasy.
A
vast enquiry into the conditions of Fiat factory workers was carried out on
the field by Gad Lerner (left), in Operai. Other significant titles
this year were: Dopo la virtù. Saggio di teoria morale by Alisdair Mac
Intyre, Contrao la moda by Ugo Volli and Boccalone by Enrico
Palandri. Gabriella D'Ina joined the Publishing House with the task of
relaunching "Universale Economica", one of Feltrinelli's main series,
and Carolina Valmarana took over the Press Office.
