1995

An extraordinary life narrated in an extraordinary book, Nelson Mandela's Lungo
cammino verso la libertà. Autobiografia. The author is
photographed above at his home in Johannesburg, on 25th April, 1995, with
Carlo Feltrinelli, who presented him with the Italian edition of his book. It
was the first anniversary of his election as President of the South African
Republic.
"Serie Bianca" is a new series open to a wide range of contributions,
often highly topical.
With E. "Gomma" Guarneri and Raf
"Valvola" Scelsi as consultants, a borderline series,
"InterZone", was inaugurated, ready for the cultural and
technological revolution in course: among the first titles, Miraggi
elettronici and Manifesto cyborg.
Passaggio in
ombra, the posthumous novel by Mariateresa Di Lascia (right), who died in
1994 at the age of 40, was the literary surprise of the year. Favourably
received by both critics and the public, it received the "Premio
Strega" in July. Another prize-winning Feltrinelli novel Il coraggio
di pettirosso by Maurizio Maggiani (extreme right) received the
"Premio Viareggio" and "Premio Campiello". In the Italian
narrative sector the following published their works: Clara Sereni, Sandro
Veronesi and Elena Gianini Belotti. Isabel Allende was once more successful
with Paula. Also very popular were the paperback strip-cartoons
"Per cominciare", dedicated to Mahomet, Jung, Freud and Kafka.
Alberto Rollo joined Feltrinelli as editor of "Universale
Economica".
